Five on Friday/My Jams

Happy Friday Ya'll!
This week has BLOWN by...and not in a good in way, mainly because I need more time to get everything done in my life!! So apologizes for this week's Five on Friday linkup with Darci @ The Good Life being somewhat thrown together.

Last week's Five on Friday, I saw Megan @ Barefoot & Blue Jean Princess post about 5 songs she's loving right now. Sooo with me being short on time and letting her know in advance I was gonna steal her idea (Thanks again, Doll!) I came up with 5 of my ALL TIME favorite jams!
THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

Mike Ryan-Won't Let it Show
Mike played the Hubs and I's wedding reception and then acoustic during the ceremony. So, I think we will always be supporters of his music because he shared with us, one the most important days we have together! Bonus, he's a Texan! :)

Adam Hood-Buzzes Like Neon
You can't go wrong with ANYTHING Adam Hood! Period. This song is older and doesn't have a music video to go along but you get the idea..

Ryan Bingham- Southside of Heaven
This year during our annual hog hunting tournament, this was the song I was singing at 5:30am of the hunt and we ended up winning the tournament so this of course has to be my "lucky" song.
Side Note: For all you viewers of  "The Bridge" on FX, that would be Ryan Bingham singing in the intro...

Turnpike Troubadours-Gin, Smokes, Lies
I love pretty much everything these Oklahoma boys put out...But this song is for sure my favorite from them!

Mike McClure- Lucky Man
Mike McClure was one of the first artist that my awesome hubby wanted me to listen to when we were dating because he loved so much of his music. I remember 7 years or so when we use to spend Sunday Funday together fishing and drinking, he played this song. Which by then I was already a fan of Mike McClure so from then on out this song has been a favorite of mine!

Hope EVERYONE has a fabulous weekend!

Weekend/Monday Recap

So, it's Monday night and I'm just now getting around to putting this post together, my apologizes. The weekend was pretty uneventful for the Hubs and I, JL was with his mom this weekend so, we had some alone time! I have been extremely busy and stress so the Hubs suggested we go out for sushi and relax. I was dressed and in the car 15 mins before he was ready, excited much?! :) We decided to try a new place, so we picked Deep Sushi in Lower Greenville! It was great, the Cherry Blossom roll was KILLER and the service was awesome! We talked, relaxed and scarf down some great sushi...love dinner dates with my hubby!

The cherry blossom roll is on the right! It was so wonderful!

Lately I have been so sleepy, which isn't really like me (Prego? Nope.) so I took a nap midday Sunday that felt so great that I decided on go to bed early as well! This morning I had my first personal training session with my mom's trainer, Montez. I had such a nervous feeling walking into the gym, partly insecure from the "first year fifteen" and then not knowing how my body was going to react. Of course whats the first thing on the list to knock out...lunges! I could feel my Kardashian butt forming with every walking lunge I did! Yeaaaah! By the third set, I could of swore my legs had been set on fire! But by golly I finished it and the whole darn workout that was only focused on my legs and butt. Am I proud of myself? Hellll Yessss! But let's just say tonight....I could use a handicap bar when using the restroom!

I go back Wednesday for arms! Bring it on!

Hope everyone had a GREAT weekend/Monday!

Five on Friday

Today I'm linking up again with the pretty Darci @ The Good Life for Five on Friday!

This week has been extra busy for us, so I'm definitely ready for some weekend downtime.

<One> I miss my mama. It's been a week since my parents move to Ohio, and I'm already looking forward to the holidays when they come home.
JL and my mom, one my favorite pictures!

<Two> Yep, that's my hubby texting and mowing! Is that safe?..for my yard!
Geez, this picture confirms how bad we need rain here in Texas!

<Three> While the boys were "working" outside this week, I had the task of finishing all the laundry that I let stack up! Being in the country you never know what you will find...which explains why when I stuck my hand in the washer and saw what I thought was a snake that I almost peed on myself! Thennnn the hubs has the nerve to claim he had been looking for that fishing lure!!
 Sureee you were....

<Four> With us not playing baseball every weekend right now, I don't really have a tan that I usually get when were traveling to baseball tournaments. So I use Tan Towels to give me some much needed color, I have been using these for over 5 years! They are the best for extra color until the next time
your gonna get some sun!

<Five> I saw this on Pinterest, I promise you if we were to have a little girl a outfit like this will be one of my FIRST purchases! I think this is absolutely precious!

Happy Friday!

Hope everyone has a FABULOUS weekend!

Love, Marriage & 25lbs

First comes LOVE, then comes MARRIAGE...then comes 25lbs attached to your ASS!

With only a year and half into my marriage I find myself guilty of being comfortable with my hubby and not "trying" as hard as I did when we were dating! I think most of us ladies can relate to this on some kind of level. But with that being said, the Hubs will even admit to gaining the "first year fifteen" as well.

So why do we get complacent with ourselves in the first few years of marriage?
I know for me, I made sure my hair, nails, outfits, skin and body looked a certain way everyday I was around the hubs when we were dating. To the point that I was borderline obsessed with the way I looked. It was my MAIN priority! Then came the proposal, I made even moreee effort during the planning of my wedding to make sure I was completely put together!  But after March 3rd, 2012 it all went down hill from there! But not in a "binged on Twinkies the day after my wedding" kinda down hill! It was gradual, 1 "cheap day" turned into 2 days....then into from the time I got off work Friday until I went back Monday. I found myself getting lazy with my food prep and planning my meals, along with traveling with JL's baseball team that would have us eating out or on the go the whole weekend. So now I find myself just as pissed as I was when the college "freshman fifteen" jumped aboard!

Soooo....starting TODAY these extra lbs are gonna have to move the hell on...because my ass is not the place for them! :)

I had to post some of my bridals just to give me that little extra motivation to pull myself together! :)

Just A Little Reminder

As I sat around last night with my second glass of wine, hubby watching the Rangers and the dog asleep on the dirty clothes pile that I decided wasn't going to get done, I was reminded again that I have a pretty darn good life!
Mainly because I get to indulge in wine on a everyday frequent basis.
Can I get an AMEN?!

Secondly, I genuinely have good people in my life! Starting with my awesome parents who I miss already because they moved to OHIO last week for a job.

Thirdly, I have a man who loves me dearly...even though he thinks its absolutely hilarious to hold me hostage in my car with a water hose! 5 minutes later and the ipad as a shield I made it in the door with only my shoes wet...

Fourthly...(is that a word? It looks weird). My quest this month to let shit go is...lets just say its a work in progress. STILL.

Happy Humpdaaaaay! Hope everyone is having a FABULOUS week!

Good Ol' Football Food

Heyyy Ya'll!
Even though the Dallas Cowboys had 6 effin' turnovers in Saturday's preason game, I'm STILL looking forward to football season! With football season I know comes cooler weather and more family and friend gatherings that of course involve FOOD! So I thought I would go through some of my favorite things to take or have at our football game watching parties.

Chuy's Jalapeño Ranch Dip

16 ounces Light Sour Cream
1 package (1 Oz.) Ranch Dip Mix
2 whole large jalapenos, roughly chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/3 cup fresh cilantro
1 whole lime, juiced
2-4 Tbsp milk

Combine roughly chopped jalapenos, cilantro and garlic in the food processor.
Pulse until finely chopped. Add lime juice, sour cream and ranch mix.
Pulse until thoroughly combined.
Add milk, a tablespoon at a time, until you reach the desired thickness.
Pour into serving bowl and serve with chips

Spicy Chicken Tortilla Roll-Ups

Shredded chicken from rotisserie
1 can Ro-tel diced tomatoes, drained
12 oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup shredded cheddar or monterey jack cheese
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp garlic salt

1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
6-8 large flour tortillas

In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, drained tomatoes, cheese, garlic, and cilantro. Mix together until well-incorporated.
Add cooled chicken and stir together.
Lay out tortillas and divide mixture evenly in the center of each. Spread into a thin layer leaving the edges clean.
Roll each tortilla tightly. Do not fold in the ends like you would with a burrito but leave them free. Use a sharp knife to cut into 1" thick slices and transfer to a serving platter. (The end pieces will likely unroll a little so just eat the extras).
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Amazing Gumbo Dip

4 tbsp. unsalted butter
1 large bell pepper, seeded and diced
3/4 cup sliced okra pods
2 ribs celery, diced
6 green onions, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 1/2 tsp. Cajun seasoning
1 1/2 lbs. large shrimp, peeled, deveined and chopped
8 oz. cream cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Preheat the oven to 400˚ F
Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the bell pepper, okra, and celery to the pan and sauté until beginning to soften, about 6 minutes.  Stir in the green onions, garlic, and Cajun seasoning.  Cook 1 minute more, just until fragrant.
Stir in the shrimp, cream cheese, and Parmesan.
Stir over low heat until the cream cheese is melted and everything is evenly mixed.
Spoon the mixture into a baking dish.
Bake for 25 minutes then serve with pita chips

Happy Monday!!

1. What is something you've always wanted to do but are afraid?
Run a half of a marathon...it scares the hell out of me to even think about it! But, I have a huge respect for people who run marathons, to me it would take such self discipline to achieve.

2. Where do you see yourself in five years?
I hope for our little family to have grown by then...

3. What are you looking forward to before the end of 2013?
Hmmm....Im looking forward to that new job that is going to come my way very soon! :) Plusss, Thanksgiving and Christmas...But I love Black Friday...I know it sounds totally nuts but over the years it's turned into a tradition for me and my sister n law. There's something about being in Target at 2 in the morning with a bunch of crazies that is fun for us!

4. What are your hopes for your blog?
To spread all my awesomeness to the World Wide Web!

5. Do you always see yourself living in your current town/city?
Yes ma'am! But, I think we would probably move for career reasons if our situation with JL was different.

6. What is your morning routine?
-Literally roll out of the bed once the hubs wakes me up when he leaves for work
-Take the dog out
-Feed the dog
-Get dressed
-Put my hair on top of my head
-Pick a headband
-Brush teeth, makeup, glance in the full mirror
-Give the dog a chew toy
-Grab my lunch
-Get in the car/sync iPod and let the singing begin
-Then drive my happy ass 2 hours for work!

My go-to black headband and trusty Ray-Bans....Errrday....almost!

Five on Friday Linkup

Hey Ya'll!!! Happy Friday/Weekend!

Today I'm linking up for the very FIRST time with Darci @ The Good Life for Five on Friday!

Since I have not had the chance to introduce you guys to the fur babies in my life, I thought I would take this time to do all the while linking up with some awesome blogs/ladies!

-ONE-
This is the time where my hubby starts rolling his eyes because my obsession love for my little nugget, Scooter! I remember picking up this little 8 month old fur ball from a North Dallas shelter and he was so afraid of everybody. Without a hesitation the woman in me was like "I can fix him!" Hahaha! And I did just that...today I have a spastic, loving, vocal, sweet, but mischievous dog! :)

-TWO-
But the best part about Scooter is that when JL is on his way to the house. I can tell Scooter and he will stand at the front door until he sees the hubby's truck pull in the driveway, then it's whining up until JL opens the door. But I as soon as that door opens, he goes completely bat shit crazy! I will have to video and post soon because it is seriously hilarious!

Waiting for JL to get out of school, the sea of kids was bit of a mind overload for him!

-THREE-
I really wish we could know what he dreams about too, because he barks, whines, runs and shakes all in his sleep! So we sometimes give a story to his dreams...There usually pretty interesting, :)

-FOUR-
We found this love bug wondering around my SIL's pasture, she was about 25lbs underweight and had several open cuts. After seeing "42" JL decided on Jackie for her name, so now she's our lazy guard dog who likes to try to dig to China.

This is her "maybe if I don't move she won't see I dug this big ass hole in the yard" face!

-FIVE-
This is Iggy aka Marly, she went to her forever home this past week and I could not be happier! Our neighbors found her at around 4 weeks so this home is definitely a happy ending! :)  A HUGE thank you to Amber @ Unbreak-A-Bull for all the help with the adoption!

Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!

Let It Go...

My plan when I set out to start blogging last month was that I was going to be as open and honest about my life as I could possibly be. I pledged to myself that I was not going to edit myself on any level. (Hence the title of the blog.) So, with things like JL's school starting back and his Fall sports, life gets pretty busy at our house this time of year. Do I love it?? Absolutely! But there's a part of me that struggles if things don't go as smoothly as I expect. Resulting in me blaming myself, which I know can’t be healthy!  I for a fact am my toughest critic. The constant worrying that I'm letting my family or friends down has become overwhelming. I have fought with this for awhile now and it’s exhausting and frustrating at the same time. Life is not going to always go as planned but for some reason I struggle with accepting that. I honestly don’t know where this unrealistic responsibility comes from, but ITS GOT TO STOP!

So, with a new day, new school year, and new outlook, I’m going to make a promise to myself to not be so harsh on myself and to Just. Let. Shit. Go…

1. When you were little what did you want to be when you grew up?
Dolphin Trainer. No joke. Stop laughing. :) I have no clue where in the heck I got the idea that dolphin training would be a good career path when I was 8. But I remember my mom looking at me with a blank stare when I approached her about my 8 year old future career choices.

2. What was your favorite way to kill time as a kid?
Making mud-pies on the back porch....this is when I was 5-6 years old not 15!

3. When did you get your first cell phone?
17, a trusty Nokia with a chrome face and purple numbers and flashing antenna. I thought I was beyonddd hot shit because I. Had. A. Phone. From that day forward my phone has been attached to my hip...but, not in a old man phone clip kinda of way...

4. What is your favorite magazine to read?
People Magazine. Hands down my favorite.

5. What is the one random object people would be surprised to find in your purse?
Pregnancy Test.

Getting Older...

With my birthday coming up early next month it got me wondering..."Where the hell did the time go?!" I just turned 21 last year....7 years ago! So why do I feel so....do I dare say it?..OLD. Yeppp. But before anybody starts in on the "When I was your age..." mumbo jumbo...l think I have came up with some reasons why I'm feeling older than I should.

** When I go into Home Depot I get school girl crazy over the new washers and dryers that they came out with...
** 21 year olds use "ma'am" when speaking to me...
** My sweet mom saids "they have a cream for those bags under your eyes!" Thannnnkkkk you mom for pointing those out!
** I'm in the yard watering my plants at 7am when our neighbors young son is just rolling in...
** I enjoy grocery store music...
** My 18 year old niece tells me my kickass new Nike's aren't in style anymore...And all I could wonder was "Then why the eff are they still so expensive!?"

As of this moment I'm not looking forward to this birthday but I still have a little less than a month to change my elderly attitude towards getting older to a young and hip way of approaching it!
 :)
Wish me luck!

Weekend Recap

 Hey Everybody!

As some of you can imagine having a blended families can make things very hard and sensitive and this time of the year is extra difficult for the hubby and I.

After JL has been here for the past month, it was time for him to return to his mother's house Sunday. It's a day I dread every summer because the hubby is so sad that day, because he had just got use to him being here for a long period of time. Our house immediately goes from having noises of a little boy bouncing off the walls to a quiet space.

So to try to make things less gloomy on everyone I planned for us to cookout over the weekend, visit, and enjoy the time we have as a whole family.

My parents have this awesome outdoor kitchen and space that we decided to gather at over the weekend. We need rain here in Texas so BAD, so excuse the extra crispy yard.

Even though it was 104, and you seriously sweat standing still, we enjoyed our music, dinner, drinks and watching our kids with Grandpa and PePaw!

With each picture I posted the more I feel like we look Honey Boo Boo's family! :)
My brother in law and Hubby

My sweet peas Lilli & Rhaina

This is a confirmation we are some form of REDNECK! :)
Do we let our kids drive cars/trucks/jeeps on our property? Well Yeah! They have to learn sometime! Do we cook on the grill and drink beer? Sure do!
Do we own hunting rigs like this?
Absolutely!!!

It's not that we won't see JL for awhile, its just that for the month of July we get to experience everyday life as a family, so that's what is hard for us when he leaves. So hopefully us spending this weekend like we did helped not only the hubby and I but JL too.

Happy Monday!!!

Throwback Thursday-What 6 years looks like...

Ohhhh, how we have changed! The top picture is the Hubby and me when we first started dating in 2006 after a longggg and eventful night in College Station! The bottom picture is one from our engagement shoot in 2012.

I find myself staring at this picture wondering how many times I've actually seen my Hubby without facial hair...maybe a couple times?
